Stream: omop + fhir oncology
Topic: May 2022 FHIR Connectathon
May Terry (Feb 23 2022 at 19:53):
Test of a stream to discuss May 2022 FHIR Connectathon preparation and activities.
May Terry (Feb 25 2022 at 15:22):
Connectathon Track proposal has been submitted : https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIR/2022-05+FHIR-OMOP+Oncology
Please review and reach out with questions or feedback on how we can make this better.
Note that the use case is oncology-related but our work applies to any organization that focuses on translations from FHIR to OMOP. This is the only HL7/OHDSI partnership use case focused on translation from FHIR to OMOP - the others are converting from OMOP to FHIR. Therefore, we welcome any one that is interested, regardless of clinical domain, to join us in this exploration and effort.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or are interested in participating!

As a follow-up from our sub-group meeting on 3/3, I added a table scoping the mCODE profiles and elements of interest for our FHIR-to-OMOP Oncology Connectathon Track - https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIR/2022-05+FHIR-OMOP+Oncology. We will go over this in our meeting on 3/10, but feel free to provide feedback ahead of time. Thanks!

The mCODE FHIR server used for the Connectathon now has 66 mCODE STU2 Conformant CancerPatient
resources and 64 mCODE STU2 Conformant PrimaryCancerCondition
resources. You can query them with the following FHIR REST API calls:
- mCODE CancerPatient examples: https://api.logicahealth.org/mcodestu2/open/Patient?_profile=http://hl7.org/fhir/us/mcode/StructureDefinition/mcode-cancer-patient
- mCODE PrimaryCancerCondition examples: https://api.logicahealth.org/mcodestu2/open/Condition?_profile=http://hl7.org/fhir/us/mcode/StructureDefinition/mcode-primary-cancer-condition
AJCC Cancer Stage Groups are represented inside PrimaryCancerCondition:Condition.stage.summary and will probably be the preferred representation for the purposes of this Connectathon.
I'll be working on converting Synthea -> mCODE STU2 FHIR examples for TumorMarkerTest
and CancerRelatedMedicationAdministration
next. In the meantime, feel free to start using what's in there now for your ETL logic or for just exploring/learning about mCODE FHIR resources.
Please post any questions here on this Zulip thread and I'll be happy to help you out.
