AHIMA has published a Policy White Paper entitled "Recommended Data Elements for Capture in the Master Patient Index" and recommends "following HL7® and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) current standards and mapping guidelines for MPI Patient Identification Segments. A discussion should be initiated with the organization’s technology vendor for current version information".
