The main May 2021 Connectathon Vulcan/RWD goal, as stated on https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIR/2021-05+Vulcan+-+Real+World+Data+%28RWD%29+Submission+to+FDA, is to focus on FHIR->SDTM conversion for submitting patient medication (e.g. to FDA for the CDISC concomitant medications reporting - CM domain).

The reason I'm joining is actually to learn more about the issues that arise and try and infer lessons learned for the upcoming FHIR -> OMOP conversion work where we will be facing many of the same challenges of mapping data from the operational healthcare data context to in that case observational medical research.

This makes sense. I'm thinking there will be plenty of analogous and overlapping issues. While then end state format/standard may differ, the overall conceptual and logical challenges don't seem that different.
