@Brian Alper : I asked @Christiaan Knaap about support for Citation in Vonk R5. You can use the labs endpoint: GET https://labs.vonk.fire.ly/R5/Citation

@Khalid Shahin @Christiaan Knaap @Rien Wertheim when Khalid returns from break he can review how to use Vonk for developing Citation resource. We just committed minor changes to the FHIR build so we could even see how quickly that is supported.

@Khalid Shahin @Brian Alper Did you have a chance to test the Citation resources with Vonk? I'd be happy to hear back on it. We'll keep the labs environment in the air (or cloud actually :-) ) for some time after the connectathon, so you can still try later on.

@Christiaan Knaap We haven't fired up a test server yet. We're trying to decide between Vonk and HAPI. What advantages does Vonk have over HAPI and is there anything that HAPI does well over Vonk?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (May 16 2020 at 22:39):

at this stage, the primary advantage of each other the other is that they are not the same

That is a deep thought @Grahame Grieve ! @Khalid Shahin : sorry for the delay but here is my (obviously slightly biased) view:
The're both capable FHIR Servers. The most obvious difference is that HAPI is in Java and Vonk is in .NET Core.
Depending on the FHIR features you need, one may have an advantage over the other, but all the common FHIR features are covered by both.
Hapi has Interceptors to add behaviour to the server, Vonk allows for plugins that are dynamically loaded.
Afaik only Vonk has the capability to add custom resource types (and search parameters on them) - even at runtime. That makes it easy to experiment with new and evolving resourcetypes like Citation.
Getting started with Vonk will take you about 5 minutes, instructions are here. And the community edition is free to use.
