Stream: eCR Now FHIR App
Topic: Outcome

To get an understanding of the eCR Now FHIR App,
Is it trying to send CDA document to the CDC?
Brian Gugerty (May 13 2020 at 20:58):
#Vishak OS - I may not be the best person to answer your question, but my understanding is that the eCR Now FHIR App packages up CDA document and send it the the AIMS Platform, which is hosted by APHL. The AIMS platform routes it to the appropriate local public health jurisdiction, e.g. a state dept. of health or a City health department. De-identified data also goes to CDC.

Hi Brian. Thanks for sharing the info. I am quite new to eCR and am trying to understand the flow. Do you know who performs de-identification of data? eCR Now or AIMS Platform? My second question is - Does the eCR Now app generate the CDA document that has to be submitted to AIMS?
John Loonsk (May 13 2020 at 22:24):
States are the ones who send some, de-identified data to the CDC as part of the NNDSS. They do not send eICRs. And, yes, so that it can connect to the rest of the infrasturucture at AIMS and in public health agencies, the eCR Now app uses FHIR on the EHR side and CDA eICR 1.1 on the public health side.
Roderick Medina (May 15 2020 at 14:07):
Does the generated eCR from the app get sent automatically via Direct or does the integrating EHR have to connect it to their own DirectTrust implementation?
Nagesh Bashyam (May 15 2020 at 14:41):
It is part of the initial configuration that needs to be done for the app ..so you can specify what direct infrastructure to use.
