I am using old example as a launching off point for creating new conformance resources ( actually just SDs, Valuesets and CodeSystems. My workflow is to create the basic structure in FSH and then when I get stuck ( the final 20%), I just switch to hand editing native FHIR structure in YAML. I remember mention here of a starter set of conformance artifacts- a sampler if you will - that is available. Can somebody point me to it to see if they are more complete that my personal starter set (which is really Gino's Backport guide repro) ?

I'm not sure what starter set you are referring to, but have you tried using GoFSH to convert existing FHIR JSON definitions to FSH? It's not perfect (still some bugs here and there), but it might help w/ what you're trying to do.
