Topic: Data call for IGs using FSH
Mark Kramer (May 21 2020 at 19:47):
My funding source has asked me for a list of IGs that have been or are being developed using FHIR Shorthand. If you are using FSH, could you do me a favor and list your IG here?
Bob Milius (May 21 2020 at 19:56):
- HLA Reporting IG, 1st draft (http://fhir.b12x.org/ig/hla-reporting, this is a temporary home)
- started development of CIBMTR Reporting IG (only contains Patient profile)
David Hay (May 21 2020 at 20:05):
4 in New Zealand at present - likely more to come.
Also the primary care project in Australia
Jose Costa Teixeira (May 21 2020 at 20:07):

developed using FHIR Shorthand
do you mean
a) developed using only shorthand/sushi
b) developed using other tools and at some point including fsh(for some part, big or small)
?
Richard Kavanagh (May 21 2020 at 23:00):
My org is not using them for IGs as we are still mainly STU3, but we are using FSH to generate our terminology before we load it to our terminology server. When we start our R4 IGs it will be FSH all the way.
John Moehrke (May 22 2020 at 11:20):
I am experimenting within IHE with the use of sushi. The IHE-MHD profile is my target, so here is my FSH based MHD IG https://github.com/JohnMoehrke/MHD-fsh
John Moehrke (May 22 2020 at 11:21):
@Keith Boone has done many of them.
Craig Newman (May 22 2020 at 17:08):
Public Health's Birth Defect Reporting FHIR IG
Public Health's Immunization Decision Support FHIR IG
Gino Canessa (May 22 2020 at 18:04):
Working on the Argonaut Subscriptions IG (R5 Backport to R4). If it goes well, will probably use it for Argonaut Subscription Encounters IG as well.
Jose Costa Teixeira (May 22 2020 at 18:26):
@Mark Kramer if you mean "done only with shorthand/sushi" I thinkt there is an experimental one I know of
If you mean "that uses sushi for bootstrapping the effort or creating examples" - I have quite a few more..
David Pyke (May 22 2020 at 18:27):
I'm doing one for Subscriptions for Carequality (not published yet)
Mark Kramer (May 22 2020 at 19:18):
Any IG that used or is using FSH and SUSHI in any part of development
Jose Costa Teixeira (May 22 2020 at 20:07):
- Belgium / Flanders project for primary care coordination used shorthand/sushi for creating examples
- HL7 Belgium project on MedicationDispense used Sushi for starting 1 profile and will use it for creating examples
- Belgian National Institute for Health Insurance is using sushi for examples and used it for first versions of a few profiles, extensions and terminology resources
- Belgium / Limburg project for digital health is using sushi to create examples (profiles had already been defined)
- IHE Pharmacy will probably create some profiles may use sushi to create first draft profiles and most likely will examples on (I'm still sharpening the tools)
- Probably a few other projects that are not using sushi will do so once we start creating examples.
7 There is experimentation ongoing in a Federal institute
This is the list of official projects I can think of now
Noemi Deppenwiese (May 27 2020 at 14:59):
Parts of the MIRACUM Core IG (https://fhir.miracum.org/core/) were created with FSH/SUSHI. MIRACUM (https://www.miracum.org/) is one of the consortia in the German Medical Informatics Initative (https://www.medizininformatik-initiative.de/en/start).
Mark Kramer (May 27 2020 at 17:52):
Here's what I've been able to compile so far. Please check it over and I apologize in advance if I have omitted or misrepresented your work in any way. Also, you might see your name at the bottom of the list if you have been on this channel, but I didn't have details of your project. @Jean Duteau and @David Hay can you add your projects? Shorthand-IG-Survey-May-2020.docx
Igor Sirkovich (May 28 2020 at 01:07):
@Mark Kramer, I've recently started converting some Canada Core profiles to FSH as a "proof of concept" and plan to propose converting the entire Canada Core at some point.
Noemi Deppenwiese (May 28 2020 at 07:04):
@Mark Kramer My organization should be MIRACUM to avoid confusion, since the Medical Informatics Initative also has seperate IGs.
Keith Boone (May 29 2020 at 16:53):
Application Data Exchange Assessment Framework and Functional Requirements for Mobile Health at http://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/fhir-project-mhealth/
IHE ACDC Implementation Guide at http://build.fhir.org/ig/IHE/ACDC/branches/master/
Situational Awareness for Novel Epidemic Response at http://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/fhir-saner/
HL7 Version 2 to FHIR at http://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/v2-to-fhir/branches/master/index.html
Basically, every IG I've worked on for the past year.
Mark Kramer (Jun 10 2020 at 20:26):
Thank you everyone for your responses.
Jean Duteau (Jun 10 2020 at 20:31):
Mark - I missed this while I was travelling across the country. Here are my current guides that I am using FSH on:
1) IBM FDA BEST Project ICSR Guide
2) HL7 Pharmacy Medication List Guidance
3) Da Vinci Prior Authorization Support Guide (just converted this from non-FSH to FSH this week)
4) British Columbia Provider Registry Project
Like Keith, any IG that I'm working on now or in the future.
Richard Kavanagh (Jun 11 2020 at 07:33):
Some great FSH references here. Is there a central place (Confluence?) that these can be collated, with links to repos (if they are public)
Mark Kramer (Jun 11 2020 at 11:37):
That is a great idea, @Richard Kavanagh . I started a page listing all the FSH-based IG projects on Confluence: https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIRI/FSH-Based+Implementation+Guides. Feel free to edit the page (everyone here).
