I'm trying to wrap my head around the HL7 CDA IPS.

One of the things I'm stumbling on is the "relationship" attribute in the various template metadata tables. For example, in section 7.6 (IPS CDA relatedDocument) of the STU R1 document, there is a relationship of "Adaptation: template 2.16.840.1.113883.10.12.111 (2005‐09‐07)". I've also see "Version" and "Specialization" relationships. Are these relationships described anywhere?

Throughout the document there are various (mostly orange) circles beside various items. I think it refers to the maturity of a referenced standard or valueset, but I'm not sure (especially, since red circles seem to flag error conditions). Again, is this notation described anywhere?

Thanks.

Hi @Elliot Silver the relationships are explained in the section 3.4. "Types of relationships between templates and other artefacts" of the HL7 Normative Standard "HL7 Templates Standard: Specification and Use of Reusable Information Constraint Templates, Release 1"

Not sure I understood what you are referring to.. is this what you are mentioning ?

In this case it means that that CDA element/attribute realizes the data element "Advance Directives" from the CEN prEN 17269

view this post on Zulip Giorgio Cangioli (Apr 28 2021 at 06:02):

The template maps to the ISO/EN IPS model available at that time; it should be updated with the ISO 27269

@Giorgio Cangioli , thank you. Is there a particular meaning to the colour of the circle? I see some (a very small number) are green.

Also in this case I'm not sure what you are referring to.. :-)
but there is a wiki page "How to read ART-DECOR Definitions" I hope can help you.

Thanks for that, but I still can't find any discussion of what the icons mean. Next to "Advance Directives" in the image above, there is an orange circle; for some other items, that circle is green.

@Elliot Silver the color of the circle indicate the status of the templates I would assume (see https://www.art-decor.org/mediawiki/index.php/ART_Template_Editor at the bottom), @dr Kai U. Heitmann correct me if i'm wrong ...

@Oliver Egger, thank you. I suspected something along those lines, but couldn't find that. I guess I'm gonna need to better understand art-decor.

Some tool tips would be really helpful.

@Elliot Silver the ART-DECOR status machine with colors is for example described here: https://art-decor.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=ART_Template_Editor#Changing_the_status_of_a_template

Thanks @dr Kai U. Heitmann. I realized I needed to spend some time digging into ART-DECOR in order to be able to understand IPS, so I've been reading through the documentation. I think the content I was looking for is at Template viewer overview:

The icons can be orange for a template status "draft" or "in review", or green for a template status "active" or blue for a template status "retired" or "inactive".
