That's odd - there is no conversion necessary - you should be able to do a straight export from Trifolia and then just commit it to the Git repo. I do it like 20 times a day some days.
Basically - if it publishes in Trifolia (which just uses the IG Publisher) the export will build. If it doesn't publish in Trifolia then there is something wrong with the IG somewhere.
