Stream: JIRA/Confluence
Topic: S3 Connector / "permission to view this S3 bucket"
Dave deBronkart (Sep 18 2020 at 16:46):
Oh goodie, I get to post the first mention of this, in this stream.
So, I'm trying to be a compliant and unconfused user. I know we're supposed to stop using the Documents thing, and switch to S3 Connector. I have something to upload, but here's what I get:

Maybe your question could be appended to that error message ... :-/
Lloyd McKenzie (Sep 18 2020 at 17:10):
I don't think we have control over the text of the error message- but we might be able to add something right under the heading - like "NOTE: You must be logged in!" - @Joshua Procious, is this possible?
Dave deBronkart (Sep 18 2020 at 17:29):
@Lloyd McKenzie as much as I appreciate your effort, I don't want to suggest such accommodations. There are enough oddities to Confluence that a truly fundamental rule IMO is that one MUST be paying attention. I blame this totally on Atlassian, not HL7! (And on my own inattentiveness.)
I could indeed blame Atlassian for not trapping the specific error ("Error 987 - user not logged in") vs the passive-aggressive "Something didn't go well, and I'm not going to say a thing about it. It's YOUR problem." :-)
Dave deBronkart (Sep 18 2020 at 17:31):
With my modest experience in UX, I'll note that it's a recurring trap if the system looks the same to a fast-moving inattentive user, whether or not they're logged in. If something visual & prominent changed upon login, then the incidence of such errors might shrink.
Dave deBronkart (Sep 18 2020 at 17:33):
(Re something visual, I have four different gmail accounts, and it's sometimes essential that I not send from the wrong one. So I've used the Background setting to make each clearly distinct even if I'm moving fast.)
Joshua Procious (Sep 18 2020 at 19:51):
@Lloyd McKenzie I will look into it. I will defer to @Dave deBronkart 's description.
