Topic: Should any CDS Hooks maturity level be increased ?
Isaac Vetter (Nov 13 2019 at 17:11):
Should any CDS Hooks mature from use of hooks in CRD?
Isaac Vetter (Nov 13 2019 at 17:11):
CDS Hooks defines a Hook Maturity Model (similar to the FHIR maturity model), which indicates the amount of consensus and maturity of each individual hook -- resulting in a ballot and then normative status for each hook. The CDS WG is in the process of balloting the patient-view
hook. Should additional hooks be considered for a greater maturity per the maturity model?
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 13 2019 at 17:19):
I don't know that we're at level 2+ for anything other than "order signed" from Connectathon testing. @Robert Dieterle, are you aware of whether the connectathons have tested any of the newer hooks (e.g. admission, discharge, etc.)?
Isaac Vetter (Nov 13 2019 at 22:04):
I think that even a single step in maturity is important, and it's not surprising that order-sign has been used.
Niharika (Nov 24 2019 at 20:36):
Hi Guys,
I wanted to know what kind of CRD order-review/order-sign request should be sent from provider to payer.
I looked up on the official github for Davinci CRD and it has a set of test cases...some with simply being a json object, while some being only a deviceRequest(ref: https://github.com/HL7-DaVinci/CRD/tree/master/examples/r4/order-review/documentation-required).
My question is: If am the intermediary, what test cases for CRD order sign should I support
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 24 2019 at 20:49):
It depends who you're an intermediary for and what sort of claims they accept - as well as what sort of actions your providers claim for. In theory, it could include CommunicationRequest, ServiceRequest, DeviceRequest, MedicationRequest, SupplyRequest, NutritionOrder and VisionPrescription
Niharika (Nov 24 2019 at 20:59):
SInce for the December connectathon, Oxygen therapy is required, I guess we should focus on DeviceRequest. Please correct me if am wrong
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 24 2019 at 21:05):
That seems reasonable. To be honest, I'm not sure where the connectathon use-cases are - they should dictate. @Robert Dieterle ?
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 27 2019 at 08:11):
@Andy Gregorowicz ?
Andy Gregorowicz (Nov 27 2019 at 14:48):
This is probably better answered by @Larry Decelles
Larry Decelles (Dec 03 2019 at 21:03):
@Lloyd McKenzie we used the "order-review" hook at 2 Connectathons and HIMSS in 2019. We used "medication-prescribe" at 1-2 Connectathons in 2019. Moving forward we plan to use some of the newer CDS Hooks as "order-review" is being deprecated.
Larry Decelles (Dec 03 2019 at 21:06):
@Lloyd McKenzie at this point I don't think "medication-prescribe" needs a higher maturity level.
Isaac Vetter (Dec 04 2019 at 03:37):
Thanks, @Larry Decelles ! Also, note that 'med-prescribe' is deprecated in favor of the more accurate and implementable 'order-sign' and 'order-select' hooks.
As CRD advances, will y'all keep in mind that the maturity of hooks should also advance?
Larry Decelles (Dec 04 2019 at 11:29):
@Issac, I did not see medication-prescribe was being deprecated on https://cds-hooks.org/. Is this a recent announcement? Also, we'll keep in mind the advancing of the maturity of hooks.
