Hi everyone,

Is there a way to distinguish Labs from Rads in C-CDA in the Results section? If so, can you post a sample here? Thanks.

Great question - we discussed once in the HL7 CDA Examples task force and some vendors said organizer/code is enough...although it keeps coming up. Have you consider any approaches?

Brett, As we look at how we categorize the different types of clinical notes using the LOINC document ontology codes, we could apply this thinking to have LOINC distinguish Lab and Pathology diagnostic reports from Radiology diagnostic reports. Basically, right now there is a very large category maintained by LOINC for all sorts of Diagnostic Reports. We just need to have them subcategorize this big bucket into some valuable sub-categories. Codes in the LOINC document ontology can be used at the document/code, section/code, or organizer/code level to answer the question, what kind of information is this? Let's add this to the discussion with the LOINC Document Ontology Committee on April 9th.
