Topic: Looking for Value Set for Packaging Material
Melva Peters (Sep 23 2020 at 17:16):
Pharmacy is looking for an exemplar value set for Packaging Material (e.g. glass, cardboard, plastic). Is there a value set in IDMP that we should use? @Rik Smithies I don't think you have a binding yet.
Rik Smithies (Sep 23 2020 at 17:38):
IDMP itself doesn't have those. You have to bring your own to it. In Europe there are EDQM codes I think and EMA has a system of codes in its RMS (possibly the same ones) but I don't have immediate access to those. I can ask for the EMA ones if that would help? The only two codes I can find in examples now are Cardboard and Glass Type 1
Rik Smithies (Sep 23 2020 at 18:30):
Some more values copied from a handful of examples (with some that sort of repeat):
Polyamide
Aluminium
PVC
PVDC
Cardboard
LDPE (Low-density polyethylene)
HDPE (High-density polyethylene)
Polyethylene
Polypropylene
Rubber
Butyl rubber
Halobutyl rubber
Glass
Glass Type 1
Amber/brown glass
I can try to get a less random list if wanted
Jean Duteau (Sep 23 2020 at 19:04):
we were looking to see if a value set already existed before we undertook to create a new one in UTG
Rik Smithies (Sep 23 2020 at 19:12):
not in FHIR or IDMP. So I guess its create an ad hoc (if it its only exemplar), or base it on more of a survey of "real" value sets out there.
Melva Peters (Sep 23 2020 at 19:17):
If you're going to do that, then we'll just use your value set...
Rik Smithies (Sep 23 2020 at 19:23):
"your value set" might be making it sound less like a random collection of things, but sure, go for it
Jose Costa Teixeira (Sep 23 2020 at 19:41):
agree with Rik - if we're going to define a value set, this is a good starting point but a bit more love would help - e.g. put plastic above PVC, PVDC, polyethylene, and LDPE and HDPE below polyethylene.
Rik Smithies (Sep 28 2020 at 17:25):
I case it is useful, this is a proper list:
https://spor.ema.europa.eu/rmswi/#/lists/200000003199/terms
To access it I had to go to here first
https://spor.ema.europa.eu/rmswi/#/
then choose "Lists". Then find "Material".
But once you have been there the direct link seems to work.
