Topic: X12 to FHIR
Julia Sutula (Aug 07 2019 at 16:18):
Is anyone aware of any mappings available from X12 to FHIR? We are looking at how to map the X12 835 to FHIR resources, specifically the DFI number, without having context of the payment information.

@Julia Sutula @MaryKay McDaniel The Financial Management (FM) work group has been working with X12 to establish a process for creating a formal mapping between X12 transaction and FHIR resources this work has not been done and even if done X12 rather than HL7 would be responsible for managing the release of such mappings given that their IP is controlled by them.
If you could join the FM committee on one of our calls (Tuesday 11AM eastern, https://join.freeconferencecall.com/fm4) we could probably address this and follow-on questions there.

when is x12 going to release such mapping. especially the 278 to x12 mapping.
Brendan Keeler (Aug 08 2019 at 21:19):
Loaded question there Skreekanth. As a group we've struggled to deliver clean mappings from legacy standards to FHIR
Paul Knapp (Aug 23 2019 at 05:06):
@Sreekanth Puram As you can see from my prior comment the answer to that question will come first from X12 not HL7.
Jay Lyle (May 08 2020 at 14:00):
Are there URIs for X12 terminologies? I see a dozen OIDs, evidently curated by different people.
MaryKay McDaniel (Jun 30 2020 at 16:40):
There will be. They are a work in progress.
