I put together a page on FHIR Operation vs CDS Hook: http://confluence.hl7.org/display/DV/Operation+vs.+CDS+Hooks The biggest issue I see with CDS Hooks is how to structure the response to include all of the information we need. Others who are more familiar with the spec may be able to help here. After reading through the spec in preparing the page, I can see how someone could create a CRD client without needing to publicly expose a FHIR server, so I withdraw that concern from the call earlier today.

DaVinci's page is currently "members only", though hopefully the bulk of the space will soon be public access.

Membership at the steering committee level requires your organization to put up cash. And they might have a special policy around certain kiwis... However, ability to participate in design calls and discussions, review of design documentation, etc. should be open to the public. Thus my expressed expectation that the bulk of the confluence pages should be open to public viewing and comment "soon". @Viet Nguyen - can you comment on timelines?
