## May 2018 Ballot Comment 113

Submitted by @kensaku-kawamoto on behalf of @euvitudo from University of Utah

Chapter: Card Attributes
Section: https://cds-hooks.org/specification/1.0/
Type: NEG :exclamation:
In Person Requested? Yes :bust_in_silhouette:

Existing Wording:

detail: Optional detailed information to display; if provided MUST BE represented in (GitHub Flavored) Markdown without HTML. (For non-urgent cards, the EHR MAY hide these details until the user clicks a link like "view more details...".)

Comment:
Recommend allowing HTML, either directly within markdown or outside of it. Markdown, esp. with HTML excluded, is too restrictive for desired rich UI experiences. The idea of requiring users to go to another location for the desired information (e.g., via a SMART app) is suboptimal due to the number of extra clicks involved.

## :telephone_receiver: CDS Working Group Vote (5-30-2018)

Meeting notes: http://wiki.hl7.org/index.php?title=File:2018-05-30_CDS_WG_Call_Minutes.docx

@kpshek moved the following disposition, seconded by @euvitudo.

Disposition: Persuasive with Mod
Disposition Comment:
We propose using GFM as-is (so dropping our "no HTML" requirement). This is in line with FHIR and does allow for some HTML. Note that GFM does filter some HTML tags for security reasons. Additional styling of cards is outside of CDS Hooks but can be accomplished through external CSS in your environment and/or extensions.
