FHIRcast is a fledgling, modern, simple application context synchronization spec. It's built on top of the SMART app launch protocol to enable rich integration between full-featured healthcare applications. Think CCOW, but simpler and cheaper, using FHIR and http.
Following implementer feedback from the January FHIR connectathon and thanks to involvement from @Jenni Syed and @Niklas Svenzén , the FHIRcast specification moved away from FHIR Subscriptions to a simple set of web hooks interactions, with FHIR for data exchange, and modeled after WebSub. We'll be testing this iteration of the spec at the May connectathon.
