Topic: UTC specifier on date without time?
Paul Lynch (Jan 01 2019 at 00:06):
I just noticed that the grammar for FHIRPath (in both the released version and the Sep2018 balloted version) seems to allow 'Z' ("UTC specifier") to be appended to a date, e.g., "@2018Z" would be a valid literal date. This is surprising to me because the timezone (and Z) can be specified as part of the time, but for some reason for a DateTime one can specify "Z" (but not a timezone) even without a time. Is there a reason to allow something like "@2018Z"? Since the time isn't specified, I am not sure the point of adding "Z" is.
