Have a look at this tweet yesterday from Andrea Downing, the breast cancer patient activist who busted Facebook last year for security holes (in the form of marketing tools!) that let marketers screen-scrape membership lists of "private" groups, and more. She's started a "Light Collective" (icon is a lighthouse) trying to find a way to empower patients to pursue their needs independently, and is encouraging them to engage with developer communities on Github.
