Someone please help me understand what this event is. It sounds like I want to be excited but sometimes that belief has gotten me in trouble in this life
HL7 FHIR Patient Access API Implementation Event
One puzzlement is that the URL says "announcing-hl7-fhir-devdays". This may mean nothing but since I'm already puzzled....
John Moehrke (Jul 23 2020 at 21:51):
it claims to be DevDays... so check with your leadership contacts at DevDays. I would assume they want to run the same thing they did at your request at the last one.
Dave deBronkart (Jul 24 2020 at 22:13):
Except it's the wrong month  I'll see...
Debi Willis (Jul 26 2020 at 20:22):
I noticed that too. It is not during DevDays. It also has a price tag to join the event.

I think @Ryan Howells might be able to illuminate some. I think it has to do with patient's access to data from their payers but I could be wrong.
Ryan Howells (Aug 06 2020 at 19:04):
Most payers are brand new to the HL7 FHIR community and so DaVinci and HL7 wanted to hold an event focused exclusively on the requirements payers have to meet for the CMS Interoperability rule that includes the Patient Access API. They invited Argonaut and CARIN to participate since we are each working on different aspects of the rule (US Core/USCDI and CARIN IG for Blue Button). Everyone is invited to attend although the primary audience is the development teams (payers, apps, enablers) who are working to implement the CMS interoperability rule. . . and of course the technically-oriented patient advocates on this thread. The first two days are educational for the technical community and the third day will focus on testing. @Viet Nguyen is working with HL7 to organize.

Well JEEZE, @Ryan Howells , it'd help if the web page gave at least a HINT of that intent. :-)
I mean, I support the goal, of course, but from what I could see it was not at all clear. Thanks for the explanation.
Dave deBronkart (Aug 06 2020 at 19:09):
Like maybe "Focus on CMS/ONC Final Rule for Payers."
Virginia Lorenzi (Aug 06 2020 at 19:53):
Actually, Ryan mentioned USCDI/US Core and that would mean apps getting data from EHRs as well I think. @Ryan Howells can correct me.
Ryan Howells (Aug 07 2020 at 15:10):
Fair point @Dave deBronkart. The "Patient Access API" as defined by the CMS rule involves three things: claims information, USCDI/US Core clinical data the payer has in their systems which they may or may not receive from providers, and formulary information.
Viet Nguyen (Aug 11 2020 at 18:10):
Here's a link to the registration -https://www.hl7.org/events/fhir/implementation/2020/
Yes, we were focused on app developers and payer (server side) developers.
