Topic: Patient API Implementations
Grahame Grieve (Aug 19 2019 at 22:21):
I'm looking for a list of vendors that are using the Argonaut API from a patient perspective. I have Apple, CareEvolution, Coral Health, Ciitizen and 1UpHealth (as a proxy). Any others?
@Ricky Sahu do you have a customer list you can share?
Grahame Grieve (Aug 19 2019 at 22:21):
this is for a public statement
Grahame Grieve (Aug 19 2019 at 22:23):
@Josh Mandel can I list AllOfUs here?
Michele Mottini (Aug 19 2019 at 22:26):
Yes, the AllOfUs app will use the Argonaut API to get patient data from providers
Debi Willis (Aug 19 2019 at 23:12):
MyLinks

Debi Willis (Aug 19 2019 at 23:14):
Our company is PatientLink, our FHIR app is MyLinks.
Grahame Grieve (Aug 21 2019 at 13:54):
ok. I made a short public statement - will post a link once it comes out
Dave deBronkart (Aug 22 2019 at 03:07):
@Mikael Rinnetmäki and anyone, re how to attract appropriate eyes:
1. Do we know of any existing patient innovator projects?
2. let's put some thinking into what we say to people who are NOT already FHIR-engaged.
My instinct would be to reach out to former and present US HHS employees to discuss this and see what questions THEY have. Any reason not to do that? (Same for other governments but I wouldn't know where to start.)
Dave deBronkart (Aug 22 2019 at 03:17):
Also, @Mikael Rinnetmäki, it's never too early to start drafting criteria, eh?
Are we limited to one category? Or as many as we want, if some funder funds it?
I can imagine awards for ...
- Simplest truly useful trick
- goal is to demonstrate to journalists that this standard really can put power in patient hands
- and get the attention of future patient innovators
- Most awesome (whatever that means, but Mike Morris's would have been a candidate
- Best integration
- Most scaleable (widest impact (greatest # of patients) with least additional effort)
- People's Choice (a web poll, requiring verified email addresses)
- HCPs' Choice (similar, but from the doctor/nurse/NP/etc POV)
@Ricky Sahu and any other vendor might want to sponsor their own award for Best Use of My Awesome Middleware To Do Something Impossible A Year Ago, or some such. That way every vendor legitimately gets to blow trumpets about this whole subject.
Imagine the Best Epic Innovation, Best Cerner Innovation, etc.
p.s. As someone once said, "We're gonna need a bigger hashtag," so let's think about that. #FHIRPatients? #FHIR4Patients?
Ricky Sahu (Aug 22 2019 at 16:27):
Yeah we'd be happy to sponsor something here. It'd be a fun way to get the community more actively thinking about this. @Grahame Grieve we will need to talk to our customers to see which ones are ok with publicly being announced as using 1up. But I will reach out to some and get back on this for future uses.
Grahame Grieve (Aug 22 2019 at 22:40):

@Grahame Grieve I'm confused and wondering if we (or at least I) have two topics intertwined here.
My notes in this thread were about announcing the patient WG and encouraging submissions to DevDays. Most of the thread seems to be about the patient API stuff you posted as a comment to that HISTalk item on the VA / Cerner alleged meddling scandal, which led HISTalk to wrongly claim Apple is being proprietary, which you corrected.
Should I try to maneuver (or copy) my messages into a different thread?
Rien Wertheim (Aug 23 2019 at 16:42):
Would be helpful to post all related to DevDays in that thread yes. Thanks.
Grahame Grieve (Aug 23 2019 at 20:39):
well, I did start a new topic... but topics are always in motion. we can move past the HISTalk question and go back to talking about patient WG and DevDays
Debi Willis (Aug 23 2019 at 21:01):
Do we have a status on the patient WG yet? Is it going to happen?

Anything for us to be aware of, @Lloyd McKenzie @Grahame Grieve ?
Lloyd McKenzie (Aug 27 2019 at 03:24):
Sorry everyone. The summer has been far more crazy than it should have. Current status is:
- the notion has been presented to the board of directors (who need to approve new work groups) and there was resistance in at least some quarters. (Not totally clear on exactly why and neither Grahame nor I have had much chance to investigate - we hope to better understand when we can chat with people face-to-face in Atlanta)
- Wayne is currently exploring the notion of a TSC task-force as a structure we could get up and running more quickly, though it has the disadvantage of not being able to sponsor work. And it's not totally clear exactly what sort of formal oversight it would have (which is generally the reason that task-forces are formed).
Lloyd McKenzie (Aug 27 2019 at 03:26):
So - in short, not totally clear whether we'll have something in place for September. If we'd been able to focus on this more exclusively, we'd have been further along (as we'd hoped to be). That doesn't mean there isn't value in attending. And, whether a formal work group or not, we can absolutely ensure there's some meeting-space for discussions to happen.
Lloyd McKenzie (Aug 27 2019 at 03:26):
@Wayne Kubick, any other comments?
Virginia Lorenzi (Aug 27 2019 at 15:54):
There was a list of patient facing apps and Debi's was missing.
Bart Carlson (Aug 27 2019 at 16:14):
Our company is Azuba Corporation, our app is Azuba.
Debi Willis (Aug 27 2019 at 16:24):
PatientLink’s consumer facing FHIR application is called MyLinks.
Abbie Watson (Aug 28 2019 at 05:02):
Please add Symptomatic to the list. Timelines was published to the App Store in July, and the CCDA viewer/editor is available on all platforms right now (webapp).
