Got some feedback about QR codes and vaccine credentials. Biohacking community thinks we should do shortlink to an IIS / vaccination registry, and that Aztec / MicroQR formats should be supported, so they're small enough to tattoo on someone.

problem with that is that they are useless with no internet link. but otherwise, they are more likely to be scanned accurately

100% agreed. But even with that internet requirement, there's a rather clear dogtag mentality/usecase that some people appreciate.

tattoos like that on someone have a wonderful history. I saw one on an old guy I was friends with years ago. 6 digit number, top of left arm.

it was his tag from Bergen Belsen

Agreed on both counts. On the other hand, get hit by a car while cycling, and one might have a completely legit reason for wanting a QR code pointing to one's bloodtype. Or a DNR order. The code+ink itself is neutral (bio)technology; and by definition, has equal potential for good or ill.

yes I agree with that too

It really mostly boils down to 'who is doing the tattooing'?

most ER simply stablize, they don't need to know who the patient is

I hear you Grahame. In a purely practical sense, Mighty Casey the patient advocate's QR Tattoo faded and became unreadable over time. https://cancerforchristmas.com/qr-code-tattoo/
