Topic: HIMSS plans?

Pardon my newbie status but I’m not sure what other stream to use for this. I just know we only have about seven weeks after deducting for holidays. HIMSS is Feb 11-14 in Orlando.

Are there plans for any HIMSS demos with vivid evidence of patient engagement?

I imagine the InterAp showcase demos have been decided long ago, but I wonder if there is time to add a patient engagement and go to any of them, like whatMichael Morris has already been doing.

There is a care coordination one at the Interop showcase:

'Using apps to automatically generate a care plan for the patient, including orders, using pre-defined templates. The app can customize the template for the patient (by diagnosis, age, gender, etc.) using FHIR queries. Care Plan and orders get saved back into the user’s EHR; results from orders could modify, add or delete a care plan. The care team is then able to follow the care plan to continue patient treatment.'

I like that. What are the participation requirements?

Not 100% sure - usually those things are (or were?) tested first at the IHE connectathon. I got that description from https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b55k79GPSh71DWwgkNRxZesmVfnhqLTtDzU_ZaFi4Ks

@Michael Morris @Mikael Rinnetmäki are either of you going to be at HIMSS? Want to talk at the HL7 booth?

@Dave deBronkart - can we give you a platform at the HL7 booth for 20 minutes to talk about empowering patients with data standards?

Not sure about Orlando, currently seems I won't be there, but things may change. I will be at HIMSS Europe, in Helsinki in June.

(Which is why I can't make it to FhirDevDays in Baltimore)

k thx.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Dec 04 2018 at 21:17):

I don't think that HL7 ever does anything at HIMSS europe. I wonder why not...?

view this post on Zulip Mikael Rinnetmäki (Dec 04 2018 at 21:19):

Let's see if we could change that this time?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Dec 04 2018 at 21:20):

clashing with devdays? probably not. But I'll ask

view this post on Zulip Dave deBronkart (Dec 05 2018 at 03:08):

@Grahame Grieve of course, thanks. Is this in the interop showcase or main show floor?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Dec 05 2018 at 03:12):

main show floor at the HL7 booth. Not as exciting as the interop showcase ;-)

I'm just trying to pull something together.

Do you / we have good connections with the health IT press?

view this post on Zulip John Moehrke (Dec 05 2018 at 19:17):

This is something that Gemini might be able to focus on too. The IHE Connectathon is in January, where they put together their various demonstrations.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Dec 05 2018 at 20:12):

some connections. I assume yours are much better

view this post on Zulip Dave deBronkart (Dec 05 2018 at 23:38):

@John Moehrke in the zulip app threading seems weak -. I can't tell which "this" you're referring to ,,, don't know IHE

@Grahame Grieve or @Rien Wertheim or anyone - does "HIMSS plans" belong under Patient Empowerment or should it be in a more general stream?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Dec 06 2018 at 01:52):

we have other HIMSS plans, but this the right place for us to talk about the HIMSS issue we care about, which is this one.

view this post on Zulip John Moehrke (Dec 06 2018 at 17:18):

Hi @Dave deBronkart . IHE is a standards organization focused on 'profiling'. Profiling is taking a specific use-case that is identified by the marketplace as important, and specifying how that use-case would be best implemented. To do this IHE selects standards that best fit, and constrains those standards specific to that use-case. Their most well known standards are XDS, XCA, PIX, PDQ, etc. See http://www.ihe.net

The 'this' I was refering to is 'patient empowerment'. As that is a high-level goal that is common to IHE and HL7. Gemini is an initiative between HL7 and IHE to cooperate. Gemini will be presented on Dec 15 -- https://www.himss.org/event/special-hl7-and-himss-interoperability-hie-community-roundtable?utm_source=commepush&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=hie&utm_term=ihie_rt_12_18&utm_content=ihie_rt_12_18
