In genomics our DNA samples are held in a tube which is in a plate which is on a rack which is sent in a consignment., and each have an ID. Looking at the Specimen resource we can include info on each as Specimen.container is 0..*, but this is explicitly the 'direct container'. What is the appetite for dropping the requirement for 'direct'?

We could better represent this as a reflexive containment, so adding container.container, but I can't recall any reflexive/self-associations in FHIR other than via a Resource. Has this been a deliberate choice? I recognise that this would make constraints on level of nesting difficult.

I should be able to get that applied fairly soon (hopefully in the next could of weeks, as I'm in the midst of multiple meetings at the moment).
