Do we have a recommended way to represent "incontinent" as a value for Urine Output?

are arterial systolic and diastolic pressures part of the vital signs panel?

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Nov 07 2019 at 18:03):

the vitals sign panel code is https://r.details.loinc.org/LOINC/85353-1.html?sections=Comprehensive
which includes systolic and diastolic pressure so yes

not that I know of...

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Nov 07 2019 at 19:16):

it's not clear to me that arterial pressures are in the vital signs panel. THe LOINC definition says "Intravascular systolic" as the component. The heirarchy is not useful.

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Nov 07 2019 at 19:59):

the system however is "Arterial system" I don't understand the issue. What would you prefer?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Nov 07 2019 at 20:10):

I would like the vital signs profile to be clear about whether the LOINC magic code is requied for arterial systolic and diastolic blood pressure, or just for vascular ones

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Nov 07 2019 at 20:56):

I am sure that there is no difference between intravascular and arterial. but it could be made clear in the description in the profile we are obligated to use the LOINC names but we could change to the fully specified name?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Nov 07 2019 at 21:01):

I think it would be enough to document in narrative - and I see I am asking the question the wrong way around. Does it include venous pressure?

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Nov 07 2019 at 21:14):

no that is something different clinically. So I see how the LOINC common name can be misleading.... components the same and the long name is meant to be common but in this case is too generic.

right, that's what we should clarify.

So, this has been discussed earlier, but I think not yet entirely clarified. Do we intend the vital signs profile to include all arterial systolic and diastolic blood pressure measurements, or only the ones that are treated in systems as actual vital signs (i.e. displayed in a "vital signs" panel or equivalent)? An example of arterial bp measurements that I believe would generally not be considered as vital signs would be standing bp measurements obtained as part of an evaluation of orthostatic blood pressures.
