Topic: Machine Consultation
Chris Grenz (Mar 06 2019 at 17:16):
Any advice for the creation of an Encounter with a machine? Encounter.participant.individual doesn't allow a Device. I'm planning on modeling the machine as a Practitioner, but it's a squeeze...
Brian Postlethwaite (Mar 06 2019 at 20:56):
That is quite a squeeze, log a tracker for consideration?
Are there other places where this is happening? Doing an appoint. Ent/scheduling too?
Peter Jordan (Mar 06 2019 at 21:47):
Interesting. It would be informative to have details of a specific use case. I often check my blood pressure using a machine located at my local general practice, but these are not classified as encounters, or recorded as such, under the local (NZ) definition of encounter - i.e. they aren't scheduled or part of an encompassing clinical encounter.
Grahame Grieve (Mar 06 2019 at 22:17):
ICD W31.9XXA. Interestingly, I could not find a suitable ICD code for 'wounded by medical device'. well, there is Y82.8
Richard Townley-O'Neill (Mar 06 2019 at 22:55):
Extend Encounter.paticipant with a reference to Device.
Peter Jordan (Mar 06 2019 at 22:58):
Close encounters of the third kind?
Chris Grenz (Mar 08 2019 at 09:15):
@Brian Postlethwaite I'll open a tracker. We're certainly going to start seeing triage consultations with bots more and more, and these would have many of the characteristics of a traditional (or maybe telehealth) encounter.
Chris Grenz (Mar 08 2019 at 09:17):
Device's definition leans towards a physical durable medical device and less towards software services, but it's closer than the current notion of Practitioner
