Age can be calculated form the birthDate. Patient.birthDate is a FHIR date, which can be a partial date if you don't know the specific month/day.
So my take is that this would be non-persuasive (in a block vote).

this become harder in retrospective records... is is the age then, or the age now? but writing it down just flips the problem....

I'd be suggesting non pursuasive also.
Where an age is relevant is for things like allergy or Condition onsetAge. Otherwise like Grahame says, needs to know the context, and inrelation to what point in time.
