We have a commenter asking for OIDs for US Core Value Sets.
- I thought in FHIR we use urls and eschew OIDs so we didn't bother
- What is the downsides and upside of adding them ( beside the extra hassle)?

We do eschew OIDs. (I eschew them especially rigorously :>) Why do they want OIDs?
I can't see any particular upsides unless they're trying to leverage them in CDA templates for some reason. Downside is that people might get confused and use them in FHIR (which would be non-conformant if there's a URL and also would break interoperability)

I keep my ValueSet oids in ValueSet.identifier (and I don't let them out - they haven't complained yet)

it's actually been on my list to get around to doing something about this. Please refer the request to vocab - I have to discuss with them how we can automate this
