If I start tagging my profiles to help identify which are new and changed for scripting page content etc I assume that will be persisting in the output. Could should tags be scrubbed as feature of the publisher?

it's a feature we could consider, but in general, tags in resources would be intended to demonstrate the use of tags, and should not be deleted
