Topic: Snodent code errors- code system is labelled as a fragment
David deRoode (Jul 27 2020 at 17:19):
New error: Snodent code system is labelled as a fragment. Did a weekend update cause this?
"Unknown Code http://www.ada.org/snodent#148393D in http://www.ada.org/snodent - note that the code system is labelled as a fragment, so the code may be valid in some other fragment for "http://www.ada.org/snodent#148393D"
Grahame Grieve (Jul 27 2020 at 19:03):
how to reproduce this? It's a UTG thing....
Rob Hausam (Jul 27 2020 at 19:07):
This would probably be a reasonable information message. If the full code system isn't being represented (i.e. it is a fragment) and this is expected, the message could be suppressed.
Grahame Grieve (Jul 27 2020 at 19:15):
probably, but I better check

Grahame Grieve (Jul 27 2020 at 20:20):
@Ted Klein I think I recall you telling me that the snodent codes in UTG includes the set of codes that HL7 is authorised to publish. the dental data exchange IG is using codes that are not in the UTG fragment - is there a problem here?
@David deRoode that warning message is correct. and as Rob says, you can suppress it, but I just wanted to check with Ted about this first.
David deRoode (Jul 27 2020 at 20:24):
Will do Graham, thanks
David deRoode (Jul 27 2020 at 23:32):
These are error messages, not warnings @Grahame Grieve
Grahame Grieve (Jul 28 2020 at 02:33):
whoops. fixed next release
David deRoode (Jul 28 2020 at 16:41):
Looking good now :+1:
Ted Klein (Jul 28 2020 at 16:52):
@Grahame Grieve @David deRoode OK this may have been resolved while I was sleeping last night LOL...I have been told by ADA that what is in UTG is not all of SNODENT hence it is labeled as a fragment. If HL7 publications include SNODENT codes that are NOT in the authorized set then that IS a problem. Could be either of two things: either we don't have permission and need to seek it, or the terminology has been updated and these are new and what is in UTG needs to be updated properly. Not sure who is the right person to check this...
David deRoode (Aug 04 2020 at 15:25):
@Ted Klein Might Jean Narcisi (ADA) know?
Ted Klein (Aug 04 2020 at 21:27):
What is in UTG is indeed a fragment - there are over 8000 codes in SNODENT complete. Discussions are actually underway with Jean to see how to handle this; ADA is willing to license the entire set and have it published through UTG but there are some tooling and technical things to work through in addition to the legal stuff. I
David deRoode (Aug 09 2021 at 16:38):
Hi @Ted Klein any update on these conversations with SNODENT and UTG? We're getting ready to begin request for publication, and most of the warnings are due to the SNODENT CodeSystem being labeled as a fragment. Example of a warning is "Unknown Code http://www.ada.org/snodent#148393D in http://www.ada.org/snodent - note that the code system is labelled as a fragment, so the code may be valid in some other fragment for 'http://www.ada.org/snodent#148393D'" CI build is here: http://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/dental-data-exchange/qa.html
