Ok where is the jekyll root - where should I put my _data folder ? Is it the input folder?

I have found this works as above when using the old template approach (ie ig.json). However, I have not figured it out when using the new template approach. See thread recently added where Lloyd McKenzie reports that:

It's not something built in right now. it's something we could potentially add support for (or you could do it with a custom template that inherits from the base).
