Stream: bulk data
Topic: September 2021 Connectathon
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 18 2021 at 17:47):
The September FHIR Connectathon is coming up in just under a month! At the Bulk Data track, we'll be testing FHIR bulk data clients and servers, with a focus on new and updated client and server implementations.
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 18 2021 at 17:47):
If you're planning to participate and bring a server or an open source client, please add or update your entry on the tracking spreadsheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Wv8uGJwzIm6vchtipc4he3taknn0HTKOxMUFBaQdZjc/edit?usp=sharing .
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 18 2021 at 17:52):
@Cooper Thompson will Epic be able to bring a sandbox version of the bulk capabilities included in the August release?
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 18 2021 at 17:54):
@Michael Turman will Cerner be able to bring an early version of the production path bulk server?
Michael Turman (Aug 19 2021 at 13:27):
Cerner will not be brining a Bulk FHIR server to the September connectathon.
Will Rosenfeld (Aug 19 2021 at 15:50):

Thanks for the update @Michael Turman! Do you have any estimate on when Cerner will be sharing documentation for its Bulk data access?
Cooper Thompson (Aug 20 2021 at 15:47):
I don't think we were planning to participate in the Track, but we have Bulk FHIR in our connectathon environment, so I can probably set up a group and client ID for folks to play around with if that'd be useful. I can be available to answer some questions if folks are connecting, but I'm not planning on being a full Bulk FHIR track participant. Also, our Bulk FHIR support is currently (mostly) on the 1.0.0 version so it doesn't have all the new stuff from last year's Argo project yet.
Michael Turman (Aug 20 2021 at 17:00):
@Will Rosenfeld I don't expect to have public doc on Cerner's Bulk FHIR implementation until next year. Apologies that there isn't more to share at this time.
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 20 2021 at 17:36):
Thanks @Cooper Thompson! I think that would be super helpful, since several folks have mentioned that they'd like to test clients against the Epic bulk APIs.
Dan Gottlieb (Aug 20 2021 at 17:36):
Thanks @Michael Turman - please keep us posted as the Cerner implementation develops!
Dan Gottlieb (Sep 09 2021 at 16:00):
Bulk data track orientation is happening now on Whova! For folks unable to attend, we'll be reviewing the slides at http://bit.ly/bulk-sept-21 .
Jamie Jones (Sep 14 2021 at 14:04):

Track touchpoint on Whova in 8 minutes (10am ET)!
Lee Surprenant (Sep 15 2021 at 16:34):
Per today's discussion, I hit quite a few errors with the bulk data tests when running it against a configured keycloak server. Vlad and I are going to open separate threads for each one now.
Bin Mao (Sep 15 2021 at 19:26):
@Cooper Thompson @Aaron Beal We are trying to connect epic bulk test server for connectation (https://connectathon.epic.com/Interconnect-Fhir-Unsecure/api/FHIR/R4/Group). Right now, the export status response is keeping stucking at X-Progress: Searched 0 of 106 patients. Could you provide more insight to this issue
Bin Mao (Sep 15 2021 at 19:31):
Just submitted a delete request, It's now show 400 error for new bulk export request
Cooper Thompson (Sep 15 2021 at 20:03):
There is a component of our Bulk FHIR implementation in connectathon that is busted. I'm looking at. There were a lot of tracks to juggle this time around so I didn't get to spend much time on the Bulk FHIR stuff. Sorry!
Cooper Thompson (Sep 15 2021 at 20:04):
I'm not sure I'll get it resolved today, but I'll let you know when I do, so you can do testing outside the connectathon cycle.
Bin Mao (Sep 15 2021 at 20:09):
Thanks for the quick response. Please keep me posted
Dan Gottlieb (Sep 15 2021 at 20:24):
For folks participating in the Connectathon track, please add a sentence or two to describing what you worked on and learned to our Track Report Out document in the "notable achievements", "discovered issues", and "now what" sections:

This will help people who attended other tracks but want to keep on top of what's happening with Bulk Data!
Cooper Thompson (Sep 15 2021 at 20:31):
@Bin Mao - can you give the Epic Bulk FHIR call a shot? It should be working now.
Bin Mao (Sep 15 2021 at 20:48):
It seems to be working , 5 mins in and we are at "Searched 10 of 106 patients"
Update: The bulk export has completed. Files are downloaded properly
