Hi folks, our team is building out the Bulk Data export capability for 21st CC and while the spec is clear about how the system should be built (its very clear which we appreciate), there isn't any direction on what Groups should be supported. I know there are hypothetical use-cases for Bulk Export around pop health and the more obvious "Practice Level" Grouping , but I wanted to reach out to the community to see if there are other common Groupings that would be recommended to support. If not, we can start with a minimal approach and grow from there.

My recommendation would be to start with the "group of all patients" or (as you've said) "group of all patients at practice X" if your system has a built-in notion of practices.

Da Vinci ATR IG http://hl7.org/fhir/us/davinci-atr/history.html uses Group for member attribution. Creation of the Group is out of scope, but discovery of the Group based on NPI/TIN or Contract ID is covered.
