Topic: MedicationUsage.status
Grahame Grieve (Apr 30 2021 at 05:21):
In the current R5 ballot, MedicationUsage.status has been changed so it doesn't have a status for 'being edited' or 'being developed'. It only has "completed', 'in-error', and 'unknown'.
I believe it should have 'being edited' or something like that. If it shouldn't (why not?) why does it have unknown?
Morten Ernebjerg (Apr 30 2021 at 06:02):
Possibly relevant: This long thread in the IPS stream discussing the impact of the R5 changes, in particular to the allowed status values.

FHIR-28593 was discussed at a Pharmacy WG meeting and the resolution is the result you see now. No one brought forward a need for Draft status, but if you want to raise an issue, we can consider it.
Lloyd McKenzie (Apr 30 2021 at 13:29):
I don't think 'unknown' makes any sense. I also think 'completed' is going to be a confusing name - because 'completed' meant something completely different in MedicationUsage. My leaning would be just having two statuses - "recorded" and "entered-in-error". Default status is 'recorded'. If you don't have evidence that something is 'entered-in-error', then you always presume it's accurate information (or at least "as accurate as usual").
Lloyd McKenzie (Apr 30 2021 at 13:30):
If this makes sense to others, I'll submit a change request accordingly
Grahame Grieve (May 02 2021 at 22:32):
well, I think the change request should at least discuss the question of 'draft'. I'm not sure about that, but it feels like something that would happen if I was writing a patient facing client
