Topic: Consent for Organ Donation
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 14 2019 at 08:54):
is there any example of consent for organ donation I can look at ?
David Pyke (Dec 14 2019 at 13:40):
Are you looking for a form for donation or a Consent resource example?
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 14 2019 at 14:15):
I'm not interested in the QuestionnaireResponse but on the Consent.
I was looking for some examples related to this case, in order to understand how other people has describe it.
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 14 2019 at 14:16):
This is what I have in mind:
.scope= "treatment" (even I'm not totally convinced about it..)
.category = "acd"
.policyRule = local code to be assigned
.provision.type = deny|permit (or empty)
.provision.purpose = "DONAT"
with the possibility to consider in the future to use .provision.provision to better specify the type of donation agreed or denied.
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 14 2019 at 14:20):
but any suggestion is welcome
David Pyke (Dec 14 2019 at 14:32):
That sounds great and I'd appreciate the example submission
Mohammad Jafari (Dec 17 2019 at 01:04):
@Giorgio Cangioli I'm wondering if Advanced Care Directive (adr
) is more accurately accurately representative of the scope
for the organ donation use-case.
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 17 2019 at 07:47):
Hi @Mohammad Jafari , I think you are right :-)
Giorgio Cangioli (Dec 17 2019 at 07:55):
In this case we have scope and category that say the same thing "advance directive".
I was wondering if category should be more specific ...
could be used instead LOINC LP173398-1 Organ donation consent ? (it is a Document.Kind)
David Pyke (Dec 17 2019 at 15:00):
Realize that Advance Directives have been removed from Consent for R5. It might be better for a different resource to be used in that case

Which one for R4 ?
David Pyke (Dec 17 2019 at 15:56):
For R4, you can still use the Consent resource with Consent.scope=adr
Mohammad Jafari (Dec 17 2019 at 21:06):
Thanks @David Pyke. I wasn't aware of this although I noticed that the Consent resource documentation makes a mention of this. Is there a record (e.g. meeting minutes) about this decision I can check?
David Pyke (Dec 17 2019 at 21:11):
You can refer to the minutes of the Security Workgroup (they were hosting) at the last WGM.
