Heads up to everyone: FMG has decided that in New Orleans (Jan 2018), there will be some changes to the FHIR Connectathon:
- the Connectathon will run all day on Sunday (instead of finishing at lunch time)
- We will no longer have a report back session for each stream. Streams will still report, but via some social media (TBA yet).
- we will use the break out rooms for stream demonstrations on Sunday afternoon

We appreciate that some people (including track leads) have other commitments on Sunday afternoon, and we'll be keeping an eye on that

Will there be a cost increase to attendees and, if so, should there be single day attendance options?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Oct 05 2017 at 20:23):

we're not sure

view this post on Zulip Peter Jordan (Oct 18 2017 at 00:08):

Costs for the New Orleans (2 full day) Connectathon are US$450 for participants and US$550 for observers. No single day options on the Registration Form. In both cases, that's an increase of over 50%!

BTW - I'm not assuming that the FMG proposed those increases!

the connectathon is going for longer - more catering. I don't know why there's no 1 day option - is that a change?

view this post on Zulip Peter Jordan (Oct 18 2017 at 09:21):

No change, possibly not such a strong need for a 1 day option before. For those with scheduling conflicts, who can't take advantage of the extra half day on Sunday, it's going to be a very expensive pizza on Saturday evening.

you would have had to sign up for Sunday as well - now you wouldn't need to.

When is a connect a thon coming to central Ohio (i.e. Columbus) ?

you'll have to make one, I think

A few notes with just 17 days to go before the New Orleans Connectathon!
1.) If you have not registered with HL7 AND completed this Pre-Connectathon Survey, please do so as soon as possible!
2.) The time for Saturday testing has been extended for your convenience. All facilities will be available from 9AM – 10 PM.
3.) Your track lead should be declaring a version of FHIR for your track to use during testing. Please check in and make sure you are in alignment with the rest of the track.
4.) Break out rooms are again available for your convenience. One holds 25 people and one holds 45 people. Please contact me directly at Sandra.vance@aegis.net if you would like to schedule a meeting. I will be posting a schedule on zulip prior to the event.

I’m eager to help you meet all of your Connectathon Goals! Please reach out if you need anything! 

A follow up on the connectathon survey - I've just been reviewing the responses so far. about 50% of people who have signed up have responded. If you haven't been sent the link, then please email @Sandra Vance on Sandra.vance@aegis.net. I know that it takes a little while - maybe 15 min - but it's proving very valuable to help us prepare - that means, yo make the experience better for the participants... you. In particular, if you're not confident about your place or role in the event, or you don't already know what you'll be doing... then it's particular useful for you to respond to the survey - it's not a marketing thing, it's about you. thanks

btw, someone suggested that it would be good if we have a video that provided insight about the connectathon process. Well, voila: http://www.hl7.tv/fhirco20142.html (h/t @dr Kai U. Heitmann - thanks)

Hi all!
Please note that HL7's registration link will not be available after today so if you have not registered for the event and WGM - TODAY is the last day to do that on-line. Please register by midnight tonight! http://www.hl7.org/events/working_group_meeting/2018/01/

The Pre-Connectathon Survey will remain open and we hope that EVERYONE will complete it. That can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z3QV6MP

Note that if you're unable to make the online registration deadline, it will still be possible to register on-site. We have room for around 400 people, so it's unlikely we'll run out of room. However, if you can give Sandra a heads up that you're intending to show up on-site, it makes it easier for us to ensure we've got the right amount of food. (100 last-minute registrants without any warning could prove challenging to feed...)

Hi. So, I only just arranged funding, and am going to try to hop a plane tomorrow to get down to the FHIR sessions on Tues/Wed/Thur. We can still do an onsite registration, right?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Jan 28 2018 at 16:14):

yes
