The latest Forge releases for STU3 and R4 require .NET Framework version 4.7.2 (originally 4.6). This updated dependency may complicate or prevent the installation of Forge on MacOS/Linux & Wine. We are aware of and looking into the reported installation issues.
Fortunately, the latest (development) version of Wine seems to solve the newly introduced issues. Our team is currently testing an improved installation procedure for the Wine (MacOS/Linux) platform. Once verified, we will update and improve our online installation documentation accordingly.

Hi @Michel Rutten, any news on this? Just tried installing Forge STU3 on a Mac using Wine following the Firely instructions and the Forge install fails with the following error on the commandline:
wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\Forge-STU3.exe"

Hi @Morten Ernebjerg, we've looked into it, with inconclusive results. Wine sometimes fails, on some machines/environments. I'm hoping that the next Wine update will improve stability.
However, the error message above indicates an invalid path, or possibly an error in the configuration of Wine folder virtualization.

Indeed, just make sure you point in step 8 to the right path where the executable is saved. That can even be your full MacOS/Linux file path, eg /PATH/TO/Forge-R4.exe.
