The resourceTrigger defintional part in Subscription topic is optional. Assuming a SubsctiptionTopic does not use a 'derivedFrom' relationship, it would seem resourceTrigger would not have to be specified if a server publishes it's own set of Subscription Topics. Some triggers/topics won't be expressable as a computable expression anyway.

That's correct, and that's why it's optional. (The expectation is that we may eventually consider additions like eventTrigger alongside.)
