Talking about IVD diagnostic service catalogs, and spinning your idea of building definitional resources as profiles to existing operational resources, I like it, provided we can work around elements currently mandatory, such as Specimen.subject, Observation.status (ObservationStatus VS required), DiagnosticRequest.stage, DiagnosticRequest.subject.

As discussed yesterday, the alternative to DataElement & ActivityDefinition is profiling existing business oriented resource types.
