Use this thread to talk about the "Integration Track" which would focus on exercises following a specific use-case where participants bring relevant capabilities and we link them together.

We won't run a track here at Connectathon 17, but if we get enough interest and volunteers we'll run an event at the next Connectathon.

Scenario TBD based on the coalition of the willing.

I'm interested!

I'm interested - but I'm interested in everything.... ;-)

Hi Jason. Yes, per our discussion, I am ready to work together on developing this track. Looking forward to it.

Yes please, I think. Would this be a magnet for app developers? I'm very interested in real-world experience of web/mobile app devs and how they're handled their client data interfaces. Direct FHIR requests from the client? Some kind of server-side caching? Is that this?

I'm interested.

me too - and how the tooling can be extended to support it :)

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Jan 29 2018 at 18:55):

What is it?

That has yet to be determined. I'm going to wait to see who wants to be involved in defining an more in-depth cross-cutting integration exercise AFTER the thrill of the connectathon and WGM pass. If anyone is still interested, we'll get down to brass tacks and start organizing.

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Jan 29 2018 at 18:58):

But more or less, I'm going to see who wants to participate, what products or services they can bring to the table, and then we'll try to craft a "realistic" scenario or set of workflows that will integrate these together. We'll make assumptions, stop gaps, and simplifications along the way so we can do something achievable. If it works, we'll get more complicated next time.

@Jason Walonoski I am way behind on Zulip, but want to participate in future planning for an Integration track. Or more likely planning coordinated integration across several tracks. Look at the Care Management and Planning track scenarios and outcomes from this last weekend. We took a first pass at integrating care protocols (as PlanDefinition), shared Care Plans, and use of CDS Hooks to evaluate care plan goals. All with the context of a very realistic chronic kidney disease use case.

Jason - a week has passed since the connectathon and I am interested in the integration track. From the Consumer Centered Data Exchange Track perspective I am interested in figuring out how the consumer can be included in any instances where data is exchanged across enterprises. I think an emerging expectation is that if data can be made available to someone else on my behalf that it should also be made available to me to do what I want with it. If you refer me to a specialist and make my data available to him is there any reason I shouldn't be able to get a copy of that data too? I'd be interested in participating in an integration track because I am sure it is not as easy as that but at the same time I might be able to add some ideas about how it could be made easier to achieve as a goal.

Glad to see this being discussed. A use case that integrates elements across the tracks is something that will enhance the Connectathons. Please keep me in the loop as this unfolds.

Enter the service, product, or app you'd like to integrate and what role it could play in a clinical scenario. We'll try to build a clinical scenario around the available items. This is an experiment, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks.

@Jason Walonoski - Do you have a Connectathon targeted for this? (eg, May or Sept)

view this post on Zulip Josh Mandel (Feb 14 2018 at 16:41):

Thanks! Added myself.

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Feb 15 2018 at 13:43):

@Kevin Shekleton Great question. I added two new columns -- May 2018 and Sept 2018... please enter yes or no and if enough people will be in Europe we'll start there, otherwise wait.

view this post on Zulip John Moehrke (Feb 19 2018 at 12:52):

I added myself. I also added a proposed "larger' workflow scenario that would pull in and leverage the work we have done in the FHIR Connectathon - Consumer empowerment - track.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Feb 21 2018 at 02:36):

I'm just going through the post-connectathon survey comments with @Sandra Vance David, Richard, and Eric. The comments show significant endorsement of more integration between tracks and/or an integrated track. We don't know how far the support goes.. but it's certainly endorsement of the idea

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Mar 13 2018 at 17:47):

I don't think I have the bandwidth to support this track in May. I understand I missed the submission for a complete Track Proposal anyway. Unless someone else is willing to run with this, I think I need to postpone until the September Connectathon.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Mar 13 2018 at 18:37):

no you haven't missed the deadline

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Mar 13 2018 at 19:33):

Oh. I got an email from HL7 that seemed to indicate that I had missed the deadline. I must have misinterpreted it. Either way, if I am organizing September is more achievable. I am very happy to hand off to someone else for May, if there is a volunteer.

view this post on Zulip Bo Dagnall (Aug 14 2018 at 16:49):

Hi everyone. I sent an email out a week or so ago that included several of you asking about this kind of cross-cutting use case for the next Connectathon. Bryn was kind enough to remind about this thread in Zulip. Has any recent work been done on this topic? We are very interested in participating in a cross-track integration use case. Thanks

view this post on Zulip Jason Walonoski (Aug 14 2018 at 19:10):

@Bo Dagnall Back in May my plan was to develop something for the September Connectathon. Alas, I haven't had the bandwidth to organize that. This spreadsheet indicates a few people were willing to participate in September. If you have the cycles, I would suggest trying to revive this spreadsheet or the folks who previously volunteered and see if there is a light-lift that can be accomplished before September (which is very very close). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1djWzgGIYHPk4HwbuAgdiaLMoGTKXD4kfWgCMUFgp4GA/edit#gid=0

Personally, I'll be there and I'm willing to participate if there is a role my stuff can fill.
