Topic: tx server hosting multiple SNOMED CT editions
Rob Hausam (Mar 12 2020 at 06:15):
@Grahame Grieve Is there is only a single default for all SNOMED editions (which is what I'm assuming) - or can there be a separate default for each edition?
Rob Hausam (Mar 12 2020 at 06:17):
Re-reading your comment on the other topic I'm sure you meant the former.
Michael Lawley (Mar 12 2020 at 06:17):
default what?
Ontoserver has the notion of a default Edition -- If you don't specify a Version or Edition, then you get the latest of the default Edition.
If you only specify Edition in the version string, then it resolves to the latest of that Edition.
Grahame Grieve (Mar 12 2020 at 06:18):
this is for tx.fhir.org specifically.
Rob Hausam (Mar 12 2020 at 06:18):
Yes - this is what Grahame has just implemented for tx.fhir.org.
Grahame Grieve (Mar 12 2020 at 06:18):
yes, there's a default for when no edition is stated - the one you indicate with default: true
Grahame Grieve (Mar 12 2020 at 06:18):
the default for any particular edition is the first in the list
Rob Hausam (Mar 12 2020 at 06:19):
ok, that helps
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 20:08):
If there is a default, would you consider accepting contributions of other editions?
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 20:33):
@Daniel Karlsson Yes, absolutely. As other editions (e.g., Swedish) are requested and available to add, we will.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:00):
So what is needed?
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:14):
@Daniel Karlsson A request (which I believe you've just given) and an RF2 source for the edition (the current snapshot, specifically). I assume that the edition content is packaged together in a single set of files (which is what's common and is definitely best). The UK edition (for example) is broken up with modules in multiple sets of files, and that's proven to be more challenging (haven't finished working through all of that yet). But if we have that it should be straightforward to get it added.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:16):
SE extensions is just that, an extension, and we currently do not produce an edition. So two release files would be needed. Is there a process described somewhere?
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:22):
No process written generally (I have steps that I follow to do the loading). We should be able to work with it as the Swedish extension plus the International edition, but what we will need to do is cleanly merge the content into a single set of files that we can import. You and I can take a look at it together and see what we need for that (I will note that the UK's case seems to be unusually complicated, and I'm doubting that yours will be so much, but we can see).
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:24):
Sure! When? A bit late for me now...
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:25):
Yeah. We can try to find some time in the next couple of days.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:26):
Does 1600 UTC tomorrow work for you?
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:29):
It might, but 1500 would probably be better, if that's possible. Both tomorrow and Friday I will be teaching a FHIR Terminology webinar starting at 1700, and tomorrow particularly I will need to join that early at about 1630.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:30):
I have another meeting at 1500 UTC, friday 1500?
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:31):
Also, is a new snapshot loaded for every release?
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:35):
Yes, 1500 UTC on Friday should be fine. Yes, right now we would update a new snapshot for each release. We can technically host multiple releases for a particular edition, but there are potentially limitations with available server RAM, etc., so we can't do that indefinitely across the board. In the future I think we should support the full distribution, but right now it's based on separate snapshots.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 11 2020 at 21:38):
ok, I have sent an invite for Friday
Rob Hausam (Nov 11 2020 at 21:38):
Great.
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 17 2020 at 10:05):
Any update, do you want me to create a merged edition?
Daniel Karlsson (Nov 17 2020 at 16:00):
@Rob Hausam , I have sent a new file via WeTransfer. Can you check to see if that works?
Rob Hausam (Nov 17 2020 at 16:09):
@Daniel Karlsson Grahame thinks that the upload might work with the separate files - but we'll have to test that. I do know how to get past the error that we saw on Friday, as the loading function now is integrated into the FHIR Console app (I haven't tried it yet, but I will do that today). We'll know for sure soon, but I'm still thinking that we may need to do the merge prior to loading - is the new version that you uploaded merged?
Rob Hausam (Nov 17 2020 at 16:16):
OK. I see the answer now - they are merged. Thanks.
