Stream: terminology
Topic: canonical system URIs
Patrik Sundberg (Aug 09 2018 at 04:42):
The most authoritative-looking page i can find that lists various code system URIs is this: https://www.hl7.org/fhir/terminologies-systems.html
but that leaves me looking for more. in particular, i'm looking for (with my best guesses of what the answer would be):
icd9: http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/icd-9-cm
icd9 diagnosis: http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/icd-9-cm/diagnosis
icd9 procedure: http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/icd-9-cm/procedure
icd10 diagnosis: http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/icd-10
icd10 procedure: http://www.icd10data.com/icd10pcs
loinc: http://loinc.org
cpt: http://www.ama-assn.org/go/cpt
ccs diagnosis: https://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/toolssoftware/ccs/ccs.jsp
ccs procedure: https://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/toolssoftware/ccs_svcsproc/ccssvcproc.jsp
hcc: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Health-Plans/HCC
ndc11: http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DevelopmentApprovalProcess/UCM070829
hcpcs: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedHCPCSGenInfo/
rxnorm: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/umls/rxnorm
gsn (generic sequence number): ???
gpi (generic product identifier): ???
mdc: https://www.cms.gov/icd10manual/version31-fullcode-cms/P0001.html
drg: https://www.cms.gov/icd10manual/version31-fullcode-cms/P0002.html
ucum: http://unitsofmeasure.org
i'm pretty sure a bunch of these are just wrong, but where would i go to find the best answers?
Grahame Grieve (Aug 09 2018 at 06:14):
build.fhir.org/terminologies-systems.html is more recent and has a few more - the icd ones. Otherwise, I guess you ask here
Patrik Sundberg (Aug 09 2018 at 18:23):
i'm tempted to just file tasks for the systems i need that i'm missing answers for. i'll wait a day or two to see if anyone responds before doing that.
Rob Hausam (Aug 09 2018 at 18:36):
Sure, you can submit tracker(s) for them - we have some requests for various external code systems in the queue. I know that we already do have some of them (like ICD, as Grahame says - if some of those are missing from the Using ICD-[X] Codes with FHIR page, a tracker to add them would be appropriate).
Rob Hausam (Aug 09 2018 at 18:38):
But asking here is a reasonable start. I think the list above is a bit too big to get an immediate response, but we are interested in helping resolve this for the urls that don't already exist.
Carol Macumber (Aug 15 2018 at 16:11):
Hmm, though I think both Medi-Span (GPis) and FDB (GSNs) have participated in FHIR related discussions and/or connectathons, i can't seem to find anything on the great wide internet about codesystem URIs for either of those sources. The alternative offered for code systems without a known URI but are included in the UMLS unfortunately doesn't apply for either of these sources even though the identifiers are included in RxNorm since a UMLS SAB isn't published. @Rob Hausam how do you recommend going about resolving?
Isaac Vetter (May 27 2020 at 16:56):
Hey @Patrik Sundberg - two years later, would you still recommend "https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Health-Plans/HCC" for HCC (CMS Hierarchical condition category)?
Carol Macumber (Jun 01 2020 at 14:21):
I get an error on that suggested URL. Perhaps a more stable alternative = http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Health-Plans/MedicareAdvtgSpecRateStats/Risk-Adjustors
HTA can contact CMS to get an authoratative URL if you don't have one. IF so, for tracking purposes, please open a tracker in the freshly minted HTA Jira tracker. https://jira.hl7.org/projects/HTA/summary

Patrik Sundberg (Jun 05 2020 at 00:46):
@Isaac Vetter we're still using the hcc system url i listed back in 2018 (time flies...). If there's updated guidance somewhere we'd adapt to that, but I haven't seen it. It seems like the list I originally quoted has dropped the hcc code system in the meantime.
