Topic: Recommended tool to create ValueSet for an IG
John Moehrke (Apr 26 2018 at 21:14):
IHE has some profiling projects going on that need to create a ValueSet to include in the StructueDefinition as part of their flavor of an IG... To start with they want to pick a couple dozen values from LOINC and a bunch from SNOMED. These are specified in the use-case from a professional society specific to the use-case. What is the best tool to do this?
Grahame Grieve (Apr 26 2018 at 21:17):
there are 2 choices right now:
- snapper at https://ontoserver.csiro.au/snapper2/index.html#/
- FHIR Toolkit (download from http://healthintersections.com.au/FhirServer/)
John Moehrke (Apr 26 2018 at 21:27):
I have your fhir client... you mean that? I started to use it, but was unclear how to add well-known codes from SNOMED and LOINC
John Moehrke (Apr 26 2018 at 21:29):
so we used that to start... then they are editing the XML... and then need something to use to load it to validate that it is what they thought they did...
Grahame Grieve (Apr 26 2018 at 21:30):
so the fhir tool kit can load it to validate - it will do expansions. there's not - yet - support for looking up codes in snomed and loinc. It's on my to do list but no one had asked....
John Moehrke (Apr 26 2018 at 21:32):
okay. so I didn't miss something
John Moehrke (Apr 26 2018 at 21:32):
is snapper more advanced?
Grahame Grieve (Apr 26 2018 at 21:32):
you missed asking!
Grahame Grieve (Apr 26 2018 at 21:33):
snapper is way more advanced at some things but a narrower set of functionality
