Is there a standard URI for the NCI Thesaurus that folks are using?

I found and commented on https://gforge.hl7.org/gf/project/fhir/tracker/?action=TrackerItemEdit&tracker_item_id=12675 but no update since January. I guess the guidance is to use the OID (urn:oid:2.16.840.1.113883.3.26.1.1) until there is an "official" uri?

It sounds like we should get this on the Vocab agenda in the near future. We have a backlog of tracker items that we need to get through and are planning to set up additional FHIR Vocab calls to speed that up. Can anyone suggest a contact at NCI that we should talk with?

Rather confusingly, NCI Metathesaurus (http://ncimeta.nci.nih.gov) and NCI Thesaurus (https://ncit.nci.nih.gov/ncitbrowser/) aren't the same thing, so I don't think helps with Lee's and Rick Geimer's issue.

oh. that caught me out for sure

is there codes that are in NCI thesauras that aren't in the metathesaurus? why would you use one and not the other?

ISO 704:2009 can be downloaded from several sites - Google will find them for you.

NCI Metathesaurus is like all of the National Library of Medicine's UMLS Metathesaurus. With all the complexity (licensing and coding) that entails. 2,700,000 concepts. NCIt is more like a single terminology. ~130,000 "classes"
https://wiki.nci.nih.gov/display/EVS/NCI+Thesaurus+versus+NCI+Metathesaurus for a full comparison but they are quite different.

Larry Wright is a good technical contact at NCI Thesaurus: "Wright, Larry (NIH/NCI) [E]" <lwright@mail.nih.gov>

We work with Larry and the clinical NCIt team quite a bit on some projects we have going on at NCCN
