Topic: ISO country code ValueSet
Simone Heckmann (May 06 2017 at 13:13):
While searching the spec for a ValeSet that contains all 2-letter ISO country codes, I found only this: http://hl7.org/implement/standards/fhir/valueset-jurisdiction.html
The term "jurisdiction" seems very use case specific for such a generic set. Shouldn't there be a ValueSet of all ISO codes for use in any context that requires a binding to this code system, like for Profiling Address.country ? I'd be hesitant to create an identical ValueSet to profile Address but using one that's calles "jurisdiction" feels strange, too.

It's not only countries - it's also provinces, states, territories and other geopolicial regions
Simone Heckmann (May 07 2017 at 09:32):
ok yes, I see it.
We want to bind Address.country to ISO-2-letter codes for the German profiles, but it feels weird to create a ValueSet in our realm.
Shouldn't there be a standard ValueSet for ISO-codes that we could refer to?
Grahame Grieve (May 07 2017 at 10:13):
yes it would make sense for us to define that for everyone
Lloyd McKenzie (May 07 2017 at 10:36):
Change request? (And if you want to attach the value set definition with it, that'd be welcome :>)
