Topic: How to make a capability statement for a FHIR terminology...
Lin Zhang (Oct 02 2020 at 11:29):
Is there any existing sample(s) for such a statement? Thanks.
Yunwei Wang (Oct 02 2020 at 14:35):

Lin Zhang (Oct 02 2020 at 15:20):
Thanks, Yunwei.
Michael Lawley (Oct 02 2020 at 21:48):
Noting that every FHIR Server MUST support the /metadata endpoint. Note also the TerminologyCapabilities with the mode=terminology parameter - http://tx.fhir.org/r4/metadata?_format=json&mode=terminology
Lin Zhang (Oct 03 2020 at 07:23):
A example provided by the spec:
https://www.hl7.org/fhir/capabilitystatement-terminology-server.html
Rob Hausam (Oct 05 2020 at 14:26):
Yes, @Lin Zhang, the link that you posted is the one that the spec provides. It is a perfectly valid example, but we also should be clear that it is a "Basic capability statement for a Terminology Server" and that "this is the minimum amount". We expect that most (or most likely all) "real" terminology servers will have significantly more than this.
Lin Zhang (Oct 05 2020 at 14:31):
Agree. Even the full set of FHIR Terminology Services is only a kind-of subset of the CTS2 functionality.
Lin Zhang (Oct 06 2020 at 04:43):
Now I think we need to provide a step-by-step/101 guide for setting up a FHIR terminilogy server based on an existing FHIR server such as HAPI FHIR JPA Server.
Rob Hausam (Oct 06 2020 at 05:27):
HAPI jpaserver-starter is what I'm using for mine.
Lin Zhang (Oct 06 2020 at 05:32):
Indeed, it's a pretty good start. More terminology-server specific guidance would be more desirable.
Sayali Pophalkar (May 07 2021 at 11:38):
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to set up FHIR terminology Server using HAPI starter project. How do i chnage the Capability statement to make it support as terminology server only and not complete FHIR server.
Please guide.

Dear Lin Zhang,
Greetings! Can you please help me on this matter? Need a step-by-step/101 guide for setting up a FHIR terminilogy server based on an existing FHIR server such as HAPI FHIR JPA Server.
A guidence would really help.
Thank you!.
Lin Zhang (May 07 2021 at 12:22):
@Sayali Pophalkar That's also the help I'm expecting:blush:
Rob Hausam (May 07 2021 at 12:28):
I haven't attempted to do that yet with my HAPI server, so I can't really offer much help on this. But HAPI certainly is configurable and it certainly should be possible. It's a little hard sometimes to find what you need in the documentation, but I think the way that you can do this should be there. Maybe @James Agnew or someone could offer some suggestions?
David Pyke (May 07 2021 at 12:38):
You'd get better answers in the #hapi stream
Sayali Pophalkar (May 07 2021 at 12:39):
Thank you @Lin Zhang and @Rob Hausam for quick response.
May be how we can restrict fuctionality and change capability statement of HAPI FHIR would help.
Rob Hausam (May 07 2021 at 12:43):
Yes, good point, @David Pyke. It's much more likely to get responses there.
Lin Zhang (May 08 2021 at 12:56):
@Rob Hausam @David Pyke Thank you both.
