Is there a reason why the dependsOn and product elements in ConceptMap are not value[x] for some restricted list of [x] (such as String and Coding) rather than the current un-typed union-like structure?

I guess because that's how it was originally modeled and no one has raised an issue on it (yet). I can see how value[x] with choice of string and Coding would make sense and should seem more familiar and likely would be considerably easier to understand. Do you want to create a tracker?
