I've been asked where the LOINC codes for COVID-related things are in our FHIR LOINC CodeSystem. Unfortunately, there is no new LOINC release that includes these codes; they are only available as "special release" codes (that you can copy/paste from the website).
They're also not included in the Regenstrief FHIR endpoint-- see https://loinc.org/prerelease/
So, my question is what is best practice for making them available in a FHIR Tx endpoint?

I just had a conversation with Swapna and others at LOINC about this on Friday. We discussed a few options that might work for hosting on the Regenstrief FHIR endpoint (fhir.loinc.org) as well as other distribution. I expect that they'll be making a decision on it soon. Possibly what they will do is go ahead and add them to the LOINC code system, but with a new "SPECIAL USE" status value (that's one option).
