We have a small Clinical Research Track in Madrid http://wiki.hl7.org/index.php?title=201705_Clinical_Research that would like to test use of the ResearchStudy and Research Subject resources - to explore identifying subjects participating in a clinical trial. We want to "register" ~3 existing patients with some basic data (labs, meds, vitals) as sample ResearchSubjects in a single ResearchStudy. (Can supply identifier values). Can this be done in a sandbox STU3 server that can be accessed in Madrid? Attn: @Ewout Kramer @James Agnew @Grahame Grieve @Jason Walonoski

If we set up the data as a Batch, we can upload it to as many servers as we wish.

yes, it can, whether you use a batch or not

FYI we ended up hand crafting and posting to a HSPC Sandbox instance. Only issue we had was probably user issue, we tried to update a ResearchStudy instance using a PATCH and ended up blowing away all other attributes. Hope to be able to dig into it a bit more soon. Also talked about aligning a Protocol Schedule of Activities with a CarePlan - interested to know if anyone else has looked at this.

Were you looking for something patient-specific or for the protocol describing how the protocol will work for everyone? The former would be CarePlan. The latter would be PlanDefinition

Thanks Lloyd. The PlanDefinition sounds like the first step, with a trigger of, say, randomisation, which leads to a definition of a CarePlan associated with the ResearchSubject perhaps
