Topic: Chinese LOINC
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:54):
Hey all. I have upgraded the FHIR terminology server so it supports the chinese version of LOINC.
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:54):
here's an example:
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:54):
english: http://tx.fhir.org/r3/ValueSet/doc-typecodes/$expand
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:54):
chinese: http://tx.fhir.org/r3/ValueSet/doc-typecodes/$expand?displayLanguage=zh-CN
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:55):
(note that not everything has a translation - I'm using what I can)
Grahame Grieve (Jun 14 2017 at 02:55):
thanks to @Ted Klein for support
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 11:38):
Thank you so much for your support!
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 11:52):
the untranlated content is mainly due to the 3rd parties' copyroghts.
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 12:29):
The Chinese display names could be formed simply by combining the 6th LOINC axis with 1st LOINC axis to provide more SPECIFIC representations.
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:29):
Ted and I found the chinese translation... unexpected
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:30):
I think I provide those chinese elements on lookup. let me see:
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:31):
en: http://tx.fhir.org/r3/CodeSystem/$lookup?system=http://loinc.org&code=1963-8
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:31):
zh: http://tx.fhir.org/r3/CodeSystem/$lookup?system=http://loinc.org&code=1963-8&displayLanguage=zh
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:31):
.. no different. I'll fix that
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:39):
(forgot to read the language in the right place for $lookup)
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:41):
will be fixed next time I update the server (soon, I hope)
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 12:42):
but in english, I would not expect 1st + 6th LOINC axes to be specific enough
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 13:28):
Sure
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 13:28):
I agree
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 13:31):
Untranslated content for the doc types might be mostly due to the LN version used.
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 13:35):
This 6+1 solution would be more suitable for notes (e.g., LN 11505-5) than imaging terms
Lin Zhang (Jun 19 2017 at 13:51):
The display names for Radiology procedure/report codes would be more complex than those for usual notes. In Chinese, 6+4+1 combinations seem to be reasonable, but too long to be short names. There is no feasible solution to this for now.
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 19:34):
right. I don't think that the chinese translations are consistent with the ethos of LOINC, but I don't speak chinese, so my opinion is irrelevant. But this is something to take up with the maintainers of the chinese LOINC version...
Grahame Grieve (Jun 19 2017 at 19:37):
the reason that some things appear as not translated is because the LOINC translators have not translated everything
Lin Zhang (Jun 20 2017 at 01:38):
For Radiology LOINC terms, the translation would be significantly improved, esp. its consistency with the original English version. And it's me, the volunteer translator;)
Grahame Grieve (Jun 20 2017 at 03:44):
ah ok. you do volunteer a lot!
